What do I know of life?

By A.E. Bayne

Its gritty taste upon my tongue-
At times it is salt,
rock hard and pursing my lips.
And then it is sand,
suffocating, arid, thermal,
when the only thing to do is swallow.
But often it is a crystal sugar coating,
going down easy,
a complete cerebral response.
